Folks
The first planned trip for ECKFC in 2010 is at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. Caloundra is an ideal destination for our Club, we will be staying waterfront on the Pummistone Passage, a 5 minute drive will get you to a suitable launch spot to venture off shore and a 20 minute drive will get you to the nearest Freshwater dam, Ewan Maddock. This is classed as a saltwater destination but if you feel the need to try freshwater it is available. We will be staying at Hibiscus Caravan Park in Caloundra. This caravan park fronts onto the passage and it is also very central to the Caloundra Business centre. Takeways, Supermarkets, Liquor Shops, Pubs, shops are all within walking distance. These are the rates at Hibiscus Caravan park with several accommodation options available. Unpowered Camping $27 per night per two people with extra people $8 per person- In Tripcony park, read below Powered Camping $31 per night per two people with extra people $9 per person Onsite Vans $60 per night(no Linen) Cabins ranging $90 - $105 per night with en-suite(no linen) I did not get prices on caravan sites but if you want just call them. Hibiscus now controls the two parks there, Tripcony Caravan park is under their control and is on the other side of the creek which divides the two parks. Hibiscus management advised me that the Un powered camping site are at the Tripcony Park near the creek and the powered camping sites are in the Hibiscus Park on the southern boundary along side another creek, for those who know this area, it is the creek where the Endeavor replica once stood. So please keep this on mind. The cabins are water front in the Hibiscus Caravan park. A little confusing but we might be spread depending on what option you take but there is no way around it unfortunately. No doubt we will decide to go to a local watering hole for our get- together's each night or congregate at ones camp spot. When speaking to them this morning they had plenty of sites available but I will say if you intend to go make sure you book asap as Caloundra is a very popular spot.. The map of the area is here, the Hibiscus Park shows on this map as Caloundra Park. Hibiscus Caravan park contact number is 1800 550 138 and their website is here Here is the site map. ![]() If you wish and can handle the flack there is plenty of units complex's nearby this area if you want a little more luxury and make a weekend of it with your wife and Family. My wife and I often stay at Tripcony Quays which is right next door to the Tripcony Caravan park and it has a jetty and ramp at the front.. Please post on this thread your intentions to come and your site number once booked. It is up to you to book... Cheers |

I'm keen but would like to camp all together to keep it noise friendly. Is there a particular zone everybody else is going to? Obviously everybody can camp wherever they want but some sort of communal gathering of a few makes sense. Anybody want to go powered? I'm happy to book a few sites, would like to be able to run some lights if possible.

I have called Hibiscus this morning, pre booking sites we will need a deposit of one night charge for a two night booking.
I am booked on PT130 they are right on the creek and there is five left. Where Toni has booked is in the other park where the un powered sites are. Good thing that The lady said this morning that those of us who have campers, can take a site with a slab, same price $31 per night and this will free up the camping sites for those of us with just tents. If you do this see if you can get a site nearby the powered tent sites. I was thinking may be I should just use club funds and pre book the 5 powered tent sites that are left for a two night booking, what do you folks think?????? |

Sel, that's a great idea and I'll take one. If I can't go I'll on-sell it or pay accordingly.
